Friday on the mall

We visited the National Mall in Washington D.C. on the way from Pax River back to Dulles airport on Friday. First we visited the National Gallery of Art. We looked at paintings from the third century to present times. This museum has the only da Vinci in the United States, "Ginevra de' Benci". The National Gallery has collections of impressionists, early Christian art, 15th century Italian paintings, sculptures, and Rembrandts. The East Wing displays 20th-century works by artists such as Miro, Magritte, Van Gogh, Pissarro and Matisse. We also saw Asher B. Durands "Kindred Spirits" which was a special exibition.

We also walked to the American History Museum where we visited the first lady display, the science displays in the basement and ate lunch.
